ESMT — Multinational Higher School of Telecommunications

Offsite Centres

In order to move closer to its member and user countries, ESMT has been rolling out a process of relocating its training programmes since 2000.

  1. Objectives pursued
    • Moving closer to member and user countries and ensuring that ESMT is represented in those countries
    • Supporting the development of ICT in member and user countries through teaching and training
    • Building a recruitment pool for the second and third cycles at ESMT Dakar
    • Ensuring the development of ESMT while diversifying its sources of revenue
    • Setting up a representation network able to foster the development of every area of ESMT activity in those countries
  2. Principle and mechanism of relocationAt the instigation of the Board of Directors, the Directorate General of ESMT undertook this process, with the primary aim of bringing its activities and services closer to its various member and user countries. In this way ESMT intends to contribute to the emergence and development of telecommunications and ICT in those countries through teaching and training. At the same time, opening regional centres was an opportunity for ESMT to secure its external growth while benefiting from a recruitment pool for its second and third training cycles. It should be recalled that the relocation of programmes has so far concerned only the first cycle, notably the Higher Technician Diploma (DTS) and the professional Bachelor's Degree. It is worth noting that the second phase of the programme relocation process is now nearing completion with the opening of the centres in Guinea, Burkina Faso and Niger. The first phase, from 2003 onwards, saw the opening of the centres in Togo, Benin and Cameroon. In line with the objectives of our 2015-2017 strategic plan, the third phase will cover the launch of the centres in Mali and Mauritania.
