Founded in 1981 in Dakar on the initiative of seven West African States and supported by UNDP, ITU and international cooperation agencies, ESMT has established itself as a leading institution for training in telecommunications and digital technology.

A centre of excellence at the heart of Africa

ESMT was created in 1981 out of the determination of seven West African countries to establish a continent-wide telecommunications training centre, with the support of UNDP and ITU. Today it prepares technicians, engineers and executives in telecoms and digital technology and welcomes learners from across French-speaking Africa.
